I love that it is longer than the pad on his old changing table, since he's too big for his changing table now. I can squeeze our regular changing pad covers on it but it's tight. My daughter just adopted two little boys 1 & 2 so back to diapers again.This time we purchased a dresser and placed the changing pad (which comes with anchoring straps) on the top and it works just great for both boys & saves Mommy's back.The pad is quite thick which is unlike many pads on the market which give little support during the changes.These are husky little guys & the pad is both long enough & supportive enough to be comfortable for the toddlers and to do the job well.A wise purchase indeed. After my husband nearly dropped our baby changing him directly on a dresser, I decided a contour changing pad would ease my mind.Just the curve seems to hold our wiggly, active 5 month old in place.We don't use the strap and recently cut them off since they were catching on the drawers of the dresser.I do use a changing sheet/pad on to of the pad for ease of cleaning.The price and size of this pad was ideal.Try it out. I use this changing pad every day with my newborn son.I did not buy a cover to go with it and I don't think one is necessary.The material is waterproof and my son has already put it to the test several times, it wipes completely clean and we usually just put a cloth diaper down for his head and leave the rest of it open.If you buy a cover for it, be prepared to change it constantly (at least if you have a little boy) because it will likely get peed on on a daily basis!I believe the pad says that it has a slip proof bottom, however I have not found this to be entirely the case.I find that I can slide it myself at times when I am trying to shift my son's position - although he has not been strong enough to move it himself and we do have it attached to the wall behind the dresser as well.The pad is a good size and seems like it will be long enough for him for quite some time. Overall I definitely recommend this pad for anyone that doesn't want to spend the money for a changing table - ours works perfectly fine on top of a dresser. It's easy to cover and uncover, and wipes down clean (thank goodness!) No off-gassing odor. This was an excellent purchase. Posted on January 8, 2012 Federico Maldonado says... this changing pad is a great size, and it fits perfectly on top of one of our chest of drawers - no need to buy an expensive free-standing changing station!it's very comfortable for baby, the contour and the belt keep baby snuggled safely, and the non-slip bottom keeps it from sliding too much..highly recommended for any nursery! I have a Honda CRV and the seats aren't flat (nor should they be) which makes changing his diapers such a production! The back trunk surface is too hard and uncomfortable for him, so I just place him on this pad and changing him is a breeze! My son wiggles and rolls when I change him, so I love that it contours and buckles him in. It's very cushy and the surface is so easy to clean (with just a regular wet wipe). Purchased this to go on the nice hutch we purchased, rather than on a regular changing table.Our nursery is small, so we didn't have room for a separate changing table, and the hutch we purchased is designed to be used for changing diapers, if desired.We didn't use the strap, since we only used this until our son became more alert and squirmed around too much, so it wasn't really necessary to strap him in, since we never left his side while changing him.Unbeknownst to me, my husband tucked the straps under the changing pad, and the plastic buckles scratched up the wood on the hutch.Not Summer Infant's fault, so I can't hold it against them.I had been tucking the straps up under the changing pad cover, but one time when my husband put a fresh cover on, he simply tucked them under the pad, rather than up into the cover, and I didn't realize it until the next time we changed the cover, which was a couple diaper changes later.We ended up cutting the straps off, so we wouldn't do anymore damage to the hutch. This is a nice changing pad.It has a "grippy" bottom that helps keep it from sliding around.The sides are high enough that my newborn does not seem to be able to roll up them - but I doubt it would stop an older baby.The cushioning seems soft enough, and the vinyl surface wipes right up (we've had several accidents).My only caution would be when buying covers - make sure they are designed for contoured changing pads.I guess I didn't realize that the flat ones were still being made & I bought a cover designed for that on accident and had to return it. This changing pad is nearly perfect.It is thick for the baby's comfort and large enough to accommodate a 1 year-old.The bottom surface really sticks to the dresser top so I don't have to worry about the pad sliding around.The only drawback is the little indentations left by the quilting are difficult to clean if the baby has had a bowel movement on the pad itself.Not a frequent occurrence, but I do like a super-clean changing pad.This isn't an issue if you use a changing pad cover, which I do not.All in all, this pad is exactly what I was looking for.
